Dear family and friends of Ira,
I am so sorry for your loss. Reading his story it is obvious that he was loved and will be greatly missed. Ira's love for music made me think of Psalm 57:7 where King David was inspired to write "My heart is steadfast, O God, My heart is steadfast. I will sing and make music." May God bring you comfort during this difficult time by means of the hope he holds out to us. Acts 24:15

Ira Heyward Sr a nice man a very good friend of my late Dad King Watkins Sr they had so much in common as friends plumbing and working together at Corning Glass Works I have to say he was a very caring and considerate man always stop by the hospital to see me a lot more after my father passed and always went and checked up on my brother King Watkins Jr when he was in the hospital always doing something nice and that was the way he lived his life a I know he made it into heaven and he is now at peace I want to say he loved his grandson he was always by his side they would visit me from time to time I can remember him with his Batman figurines until recently meeting him he stands about 6 '4 I never thought he would be that tall. Also we had something in common we both had daughter's name Chelsea he always talked about his daughters Chelsea singing the other daughter in the medical field and Ira Jr as a musician like his Dad and his grandson in sports the last time I saw him was just recently at Corning Credit Union and he looked a little shaken up he went on to tell me that he wasn't feeling good the look on his face I will never forget it made me so sad that when he left I got tearful I told him I would keep him in my prayers I have to say the world has lost a great man I send my condolences to the family will keep you all in prayer I love you Julia now the man with such a great heart a great musician will rest in paradise will miss you

I knew Ira from playing in bands and then later as Krista's Dad, I did not know himn well. I only had one real conversation with but I knew from meeting him and being around him he was a good man. I remember election night, I could see he was devastated and heartbroken for his daughter. Krista said "he took it harder than me" His legacy of kindness, service , commitment and most of all love will live on. Honored to have known him

Dear Julia and family, My heart aches for all of you for your great loss. Ira was a very special man. He was a real care giver having visited Lee in the hospital many times. He kept things running at Grace Church, especially the old boiler. I will miss him and his wonderful sense of humor. I just know that he and Lee are in heaven with Fr. Han. My love, hugs and kisses to all, BJ

Mrs. Heyward and family...I am so sorry for your loss. What a great man and so influential in my life. A pat on the back or a kick in the caboose, whatever it took. I could and never would walk off the field for the past decade at ND or even away games while helping Coach D, without saying hi to Pop as I called him. He was always there, always with a hug, that laugh and warmth. Heaven got an Angel. Thank you Mr. Heyward.
