Obituary of Grace M. Kent
KENT, Grace Macaluso
Age 92 of East Meredith, NY. She was born January 10, 1927 on the family farm in Bloomville, NY, the last surviving child of the late Joseph and Concetta (LaPlaca) Macaluso, and passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at Bassett Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ronald on August 29, 2010 and her siblings Victor, Leonard, Peter, Frank, Sebastian & Anthony Macaluso and Catherine Thomas. Grace is survived by her children Concetta (John Hoeting) Kent of Beverly Hills, FL, Tina (Michael) Sander of Holley, NY, Walter (Diane) Kent of Elmira, NY and Linda (Robert) Reese of New Berlin, NY; grandchildren Adrienne (Ray) Cruz of Rochester, NY, Jennifer (Derrick Rondeau) Sander of East Meredith, NY, Stephanie Sander of Rochester, NY, Tiffany (Robert) Jolly of Hamlin, NY, Tyler (Ellen) Kent of Horseheads, NY; great grandchildren Michael & Giovanni Cruz, Sierra, Bailey & Logan Rondeau, Alexander, Andrew & Adira Jolly, Jaxson LaMar and Harvey Kent, sister-in-law Chrystal Dougherty of South Daytona, FL, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace was a communicant, past trustee and pastoral council member at St. Mary’s Church. She retired there in 1997 after 25 years from her position as secretary. She was a sub rural mail carrier with the USPS in East Meredith for 20 years; a founding member and communicant of the former St. Theresa’s Chapel in Davenport Center; former board member of the Hanford Mill Museum; member of Oneonta Business Woman’s Club; Charlotte Valley Senior Citizens and the Italian American Club in Oneonta where she was bestowed Citizen of the Year in 2002. Family and friends are invited to visit Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta on Thursday, February 7th from 5 to 7 pm. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 8th at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church. Interment will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Grace through donations to Super Hero’s in Ripped Jeans Animal Rescue, 697 Winney Hill Rd., Oneonta, NY 13820.
