Obituary of Harry James Green

GREEN, Harry James Age 95 of Erin, NY. He was born August 5, 1923 in Lowman, NY, son of the late Harry S. and Alice R. (Gallup) Green and passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 surrounded by his family at Chemung County Nursing Facility. In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by his loving wife of 71 years, Marcia on September 29, 2018; brother Franklyn and son-in-law, Bradley Roth. He is survived by his children, Kathleen (Thomas) Seymour, Timothy (Mary Ann) Green, Terry (Kimberly) Green, Colleen (Lauren) Simkin, and Mary Jo Roth; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren with another on the way; sisters Ruth Grippin and Mary Lamie; dear friend Lawrence Roman, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Harry retired from Moore Business Forms. He and his wife donated land on which the Baldwin Fire Department was built; Harry was involved with that Fire Department for over 50 years, even becoming the Chief of the Fire Department. Harry put his tremendous talent for cooking to work with the Baldwin Fire Department Chicken Barbeque, North Chemung Food Pantry and Chemung County Meals on Wheels. Along with his family he was member of the North Chemung Methodist Church as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge. As a dad, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather he left a legacy of love and devotion to his family. Harry's family will celebrate his life privately.
