Obituary of Raymond G. Ruhmel
RUHMEL, Raymond G.
Age 72 of Elmira, NY. He was born February 13, 1946, son of the late Charles and Helen Ruhmel and joined them in Heaven on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law James Tenny. Ray is survived by his brother Chuck (Joan) Ruhmel; sisters Mary (Jack) Yusko and Rita Tenny; nieces and nephews James (Tracy) Tenny, Sandy Sullivan, Georgia (Rich) Weed, Billy (Lucy) Solt, Deborah Solt, Michael Ruhmel, Scott (Kelly) Ruhmel and Peter (Krissy) Ruhmel along with several great nieces and nephews and friend Rick Horton. In his earl years, Ray enjoyed farming and worked on the Hofbauer farm while attending high school. The past 30 years Ray worked as a member of the maintenance staff at Ss. Peter & Paul Church. While there, he also enjoyed being an altar server, faithfully serving at the weekly Masses and funerals. He also enjoyed doing the communion service at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to visit Ss. Peter & Paul Church, St. Joseph’s Blvd, Elmira on Tuesday, December 4th from 10 to 11 am. His memorial Mass will follow at 11 am. Rev. Richard Farrell, Celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Raymond through donations to the Elmira Community Kitchen-Catholic Charities, 215 E. Church St., Elmira, NY 14901.
