I never saw Anne's passing in the Star Gazette, until I searched the Web today, 10/11/2020, when I found her at Sullivan's Funeral Home web site. I was Anne's attorney starting nearly 18 years ago, and for a few years after that. I shall always remember her. She is one of the bravest and kindest persons I have ever known. Without getting into private affairs, she stood up to a very unfair Judge, along with two other persons harmed by that same Judge. Myself and two other attorneys brought litigation against the offending Judge, and he was ultimately permanently prohibited from hearing further cases and had to go into retirement. Before Anne's brave stand, that Judge had harmed the lives of hundreds of people in the Elmira/Corning region. Her standing up for what is right, took a lot of courage, and it took a couple of years of litigation to rid America of that Judge. She ultimately won her case too. It is hard for most attorneys to sue judges, as most are afraid what that judge will do to other cases - even though it is the right thing to do. However, from the client's point of view, it is an important claim for the client, and that client risks everything along with perhaps having to see that same judge again. I shall always remember Anne Pronti's courage when she was frightened, and had been victimized by the judge, her strength of character, and her desire to do the right thing for others, not just for herself. It is said that courage is taking action in the face of the powerful and in the face of reasonable fear, and then doing it anyway. Anne did that and persevered.
