Obituary of Ronald A. Hawley Jr.

HAWLEY, Ronald A., Jr. Age 81 of Horseheads, NY. He was born February 23, 1937 in Elmira, son of the late Ronald A., Sr. and Mary A. (McElroy) Hawley and passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Seneca View Nursing Home, Montour Falls, NY. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Marjorie and son-in-law Gerald Check. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lois and Christopher Downs, Jr.; granddaughter Sarah Check, all of Horseheads; sister Gail Legge of Elmira Heights; nephews Tyler Legge of Elmira Heights and Glenn (Deborah) Legge of TX; niece Christine (Jason) Glamm of TX; a great niece and great nephew. Ron retired from Corning, Inc. He graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School, Class of 1954; was an Eagle Scout (Troop 13, Oakwood United Methodist Church); an avid outdoorsman; a life member of the NRA; life member and long time treasurer of the Millport Hunting and Fishing Club and a member of the Montour Falls Moose Club. Family and friends are invited to his graveside service on Monday, May 21st at 11 am in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Ron through donations to the Millport Volunteer Fire Department.
