Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Culshaw

CULSHAW, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Age 82 of Elmira, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Sunday December 27th, 2015. Mary was predeceased by her parents from England, her brother Frank from Mallorca, Spain, sister Renee from Canada, and her beloved son Stephen from Elmira. She is survived by her sons; David (Maureen) and Martin (Sharon) Culshaw, both of Elmira, daughter Susan Dunn of Horseheads, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, along with her faithful canine companions, Sadie and Bo. Mary came here from England in 1968 and worked at Rand's Drug Store for 10 years before joining St. Joseph's Hospital as a housekeeper. She retired from there after 18 years of dedicated service. Mary was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church for over 40 years, where she loved to sing in the choir. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., on Wednesday, December 30th from 2 pm to 4 pm. Mary's funeral service will immediately follow; Rev. Bill Lutz will officiate. All are invited to join a celebration of Mary's life after services at the Elmira Elk's Lodge #62, 300 E Gray Street. Mary and her family wish to thank Dr. Mauri and staff, the nurses from CareFirst, and the caring staff at Weis Pharmacy. The family also wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to Mary's daughter-in-law, Maureen, for all her loving care in Mary's final days.
