Obituary of John D. Emery

EMERY, John D. Age 63 of Waverly, NY. He was born October 9, 1952 in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Dalton and Shirley Emery and passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at home. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his uncle, John Fasset. He is survived by his loving wife Deborah (McCann) Emery, his daughters: Mindy Hamlyn, Wendy (Jim) Surdoval, Angie (Robert) Morrissey, Kimberly Hawkins, sons: Jimmy (Betty) Emery, Joey Emery, stepson: Terry (Lisa) Babcock, sisters: Cynthia (Nate) Alexander, Debbie (Larry) Lee, brothers: Richard (Cathy) Emery, Donald (Flo) Emery, Tim (Deborah) Emery, Tom (Rhonda) Emery, 16 dear grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was a hardworking man who could fix anything and even owned his own garage for a time. To balance his hard working attitude, John enjoyed playing guitar and going fishing. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR and the New York Giants. His family and friends will remember his infectious laughter and great sense of humor. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., in Elmira, on Sunday, November 29th from 1 pm to 3 pm. John's funeral service will follow at 3 pm.
