Obituary of Howard C. Coleman

COLEMAN, Howard C., Sr. Age 87 of Elmira, NY. He was born November 15, 1925 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Floyd W. and Rosabel (Ellison) Coleman and passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his first wife Artiemeasia B. Coleman; sister Elinor Coleman, nephew Robin D. Coleman; son-in-law Wendell B. Ross and sister-in-law Sarah Rose Coleman. He is survived by his wife Varneze; children Carole of Rochester, NY, Candice Ross of Elmira, Howard C. , Jr. of Elmira, Colley of Gary, IN, Charrisse (Anderson) Mitchell of Ithaca, NY, Carolyn Brown of Ithaca, NY, Ozella Brown of Elmira, Vareze, Kevin and Isaac Rollins all of Elmira, Merinda and Mark Rollins both of Raleigh, NC, Jesene and Jolaine Banks both of Elmira; 32 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brothers Floyd Winston Coleman and Roland (Mildred) Coleman both of Elmira along with a host of nieces and nephews; dear friends Charlie Hobson and James Troccia. Family and friends are invited to visit Frederick Douglass Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 402 Madison Ave., Elmira on Friday, November 30th from 7 to 9 pm and at Resurrection Tabernacle, 964 Lake St., Elmira on Saturday, December 1st from 11 am to 1 pm. His funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Committal prayers and interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
