Obituary of Joe R. Spivey

SPIVEY, Joe R. Age 71 of Elmira, NY. He was born June 30, 1941 in Watley, GA son of the late Willie J. and Mary (Davis) Spivey and passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Juanita (Thomas); children David (Marti) Samuels, Derek Jefferson and Kim Thomas all of Elmira; grandson Jared Mosier of NJ; sisters Rosie (David) Coley of Apoka, FL, Juanita Thompkins and Genetta Carter both of Elmira; brothers Lephar (Dorothy) Spivey of Jacksonville, FL and Alton (Joan) Spivey of Florence, SC, mother-in-law Mamie Thomas of Elmira; sisters-in-law Shirley Thomas of Syracuse and Delphine Thomas of Atlanta, GA along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends; canine companion Scooby. Joe retired from Schweizer Aircraft after 35 years of service. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, November 30th from 10 am to 12 noon. His funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Elder Caranell Parks will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
