Obituary of Betty I. Caswell

CASWELL, Betty Irene (Bowman, Miller) Age 87 of Elmira, NY passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a courageous battle with ALS. Born November 10, 1927 in Williamsport, PA to Geraldine (Bowman) Garvuich and Glenn Kimball, both deceased. She attended Williamsport High School. In October 1945 she moved to Penn Yan and married Fred R. Miller in 1949. He passed away in 1973. She married Charles Caswell in 1988. He passed away in 2010. She is survived by her 2 stepsons Terry (Cindy) and Charles D. Caswell; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces and cousins; aunt LaRaine Smith of Williamsport, PA; special cousin Beverly Ticey of Los Angeles, CA; special friends from Penn Yan Fred and Dorothy Gilder, Gunter and Linda Weichenthal; good neighbors from Elmira Sue Cicora and Barbara and Linda Petro. Betty was employed with C.A. Reed Co. in Williamsport for 19 years, Penn Yan Express for 22 years and Smith Magazine, Newspaper Dist., Gettysburg, PA for 2 years. She was a member of the Penn Yan Methodist Church and attended the Pennsylvania Ave. United Methodist Church in Pine City. A graveside service will take place in Lake View Cemetery, Penn Yan later this spring. A special thank you to the girls on 3C, Skilled Nursing Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital for the wonderful care they provided Betty. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
