Obituary of Denise A. (Fullwood) Porter

PORTER, Denise A. Age 59 of Elmira, NY. She was born March 6, 1953 in Elmira, daughter of the late Pete and Grace (Simpson) Fullwood and passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband Willie in 2003, mother Grace Simpson in 2011. Grandson Ajay Curry in 2011, sister and brothers Carolyn, Richard and Franklin Blandford. Denise is survived by her children Monique (Jameel) Robinson of Endicott, NY, Peter Afriyie of Harlem, NY and Angela "Gracie" (Davin) West of Tully, NY; grandchildren Rachelle Curry, Jasmine Cooke, Jameel Robinson, Jr., Christopher and Elijah West; brothers Pete (Lorna) Fullwood, Tony Fullwood, Mark (Shawnda) Fullwood, Paul Simpson and Philip (Mary) Simpson; sisters Jean McGee, Lauretta (George) Stowe, Mary Helen (Charles) Peters and Megan Fullwood along with a host of nieces and nephews. Denise was an over the road truck driver for over 35 years, being and owner/operator with her late husband. She most recently worked for Shulman's in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to visit Frederick Douglass Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 402 Madison Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, November 27th from 1 to 3 pm. Her funeral and committal services will follow at 3 pm. Rev. Michael D. Bell will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
