Obituary of Eloise E. Jacobus

Eloise Elaine (VanKurin) Jacobus, 88, of Corning, NY died on Thursday, February 6, 2015 at Guthrie Hospital. Ellie was born on November 16, 1926 in Gibson, NY the daughter of the late Ivan Glen and Gladys (Hubbard) VanKurin. Ellie was a selfless and generous woman who gave much of her time to her family and especially to her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved and adored while she worked at various companies locally until she became a co-partner in her ceramic shop. Ellie believed passionately in charity, and charitable donations, especially to the local Food Bank of the Southern Tier, and Feed the Children. As she said, "No child should ever go hungry." She is survived by her children: Ellen (Gary) Parmelee of Florida, John Henry (Wanda) Jacobus of Corning, NY, Ivan (Halina) Jacobus of Corning NY, Walter (Barbara) Jacobus of North Carolina, David Jacobus of Corning, NY Grandchildren: Gary and Michael Parmelee, Kimberly, Jeffery Scott, Jeffery Grant and Jennifer Jacobus. Candy Sue, Robert and Nicole Jacobus. Michael John, Anne-Marie and Ivy Jacobus, Nathan and Shannon Jacobus and 11 beloved great grandchildren. Her Brothers and Sisters: Richard VanKurin, Kenneth VanKurin, Gerald VanKurin, Maynard Wellington, David Wellington, and James Wellington. Winifred Beebe, Jan Crooker, Evelyn Gridley. And many many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Michael (Steven) Jacobus, Grandson, Curtis Boyce. Her brothers: Ernest "Ben" VanKurin, Donald VanKurin, and her sisters: Glenora "Sweet" Martin, Carolyn Bates and Leslie Bliss. And by her father Ivan Glen VanKurin and her mother Gladys (VanKurin ) Wellington. Family and friends are invited to her Memorial Celebration at the Gibson Fire Hall, Gibson, NY on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 1-4pm.
