Obituary of John J. Bell

BELL, John "Jack" Age 80 of Elmira, NY. Born July 20, 1934 in Elmira, NY, son of the late William E. and Isabelle (Valentine) Bell, Mr. Bell passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis Kelly and George E. Belle. He is survived by his loving wife Aloma L. Bell; three sisters, Barbara (Laudrick) Valentine of Mitchellville, MD, Shirley (Roy) Henderson of Morehead City, NC, Gail P. Bright of Las Vegas, NV; three daughters, Kimberly Reaves of Elmira, NY, Ericka (Allen Baity) Thomas-Wells of Elmira, NY, Nicole (Brandon) Harper-Bell of Atlanta, GA and one son, Robert M. "Tank" Thomas of Las Vegas, NV, along with 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was employed as a Civilian, and retired from Southport Correctional Facility. The family offers special thanks to Carl Jelliff, Anthony Tallarida, Charlie Clark, Aunt Teresa & Uncle Floyd along with gratitude for the caregivers at Bath V.A. Hospital who were there for Jack and his family. Friends are invited to the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18th from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Bell at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 161 High St., Elmira, on Tuesday, January 20th at 11 am. Rev. Walter Wainwright officiating. Committal prayers and internment will follow in Bath National Cemetery.
