Obituary of Robert Deery

DEERY, Robert E. Age 88 of Elmira, NY. He was born September 3, 1926 in Elmira, son of the late Earl and Louella (Northrup) Deery and passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his brother Earl Deery, Jr. in 1947 and his sister Jean Arnold in 2013 and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ella Deery; his children and their spouses Eugene and Jeanne Deery of Elmira, Deborah and Scott Beschler of Elmira Heights, Cheryl and Walter Michalko, Darlene and Warren Stephenson all of Elmira; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob retired from Surface Finishing Technologies in Elmira. He was a member of Elmwood Avenue Baptist Church; a WWII veteran serving in the U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 154 Elmira Heights. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Wednesday, November 26th from 5 to 8 pm and on Friday, November 28th from 10 am to 12 noon, with Robert's funeral service to follow at 12 noon. Rev. Dr. David Sullivan will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Bob through donations to Elmwood Avenue Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
