Obituary of Anna F. Lewis

LEWIS, Anna F. Age 89 of Elmira, NY. She was born May 6, 1925 in Elmira, daughter of the late Willie and Nina (Harrison) Benson and passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was predeceased by her husband William "Nick" H. Lewis, Sr.; son William "Snooky" H. Lewis, Jr.; siblings Delphine Benson, Lunna Howard, Laura Taylor, Thelma Lewis, Burl Benson, Cleave Benson, Lena Cooke and Josie Thomas. She is survived by her children and their spouses Terry and Anita Lewis of Elmira, Pamela and Alex (Pat) Gilliam of Hanover, MD, Gretchen Lewis of Elmira, Harriet Lewis of White Plains, NY and John Lewis of Elmira; grandchildren Alexis (Steve) Suter of Laurel, MD, Alex (Darin) Gilliam of Annapolis, MD and Paetyn Lewis of Elmira; great grandchildren Kennedy Suter of Laurel, MD and Evan Gilliam of Annapolis, MD; sister Jean Bacome of Elmira along with a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Frederick Douglass Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church and the Eastern Star, Omega Chapter 2. She retired from Westinghouse Corp. Family and friends are invited to visit Frederick Douglass Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 400 Madison Ave., Elmira on Monday, August 4th from 12 to 1 pm. Her memorial service will be held at 1 pm. Rev. Michael D. Bell officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
