Obituary of Diane R. McMordie

McMORDIE, Diane Age 71 of Elmira, NY. She was born December 9, 1942 in Hornell, NY, daughter of the late Stewart and Doris (Smith) Freece passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at home after an extended illness. She is survived by her son Bill (Valerie Trerise) McMordie of Saratoga Springs, NY; grandchildren Cole and Taylor McMordie both of Saratoga Springs, NY; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Sherry Freece of Hornell, NY. Diane graduated from Hornell High School, received her Bachelor's degree from Geneseo and a Master's degree from Elmira College. She was a teacher at George Washington Elementary School from 1969 to 1985 and then was a Labor Relations Specialist for New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) from 1985 retiring in 2001. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, son (who she gave support, encouragement and advice to) and friends, Seneca Lake, traveling and good wine. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, May 31st from 1 to 2 pm. Her memorial service will follow at 2 pm.
