Obituary of Joshua Nelson Swan

SWAN, Joshua Nelson Age 73 of Elmira, NY. He was born April 13, 1940 in Belleville, VA, son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Bowie) Swan and passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Michael Swan; sisters Lillian and Mary Swan. Nelson is survived by his children Katrina Swan of Elmira, Regina Phillips of MI, Anthony Swan of MD, Nelson Hooks of Elmira and Lakisha Swan of Elmira; grandchildren Jeremy, Brandon, Trevon, Terrell, Shamel, Anthony, Tatayanna and Ameera Swan, Tavarus Brown, Devante Hall, Jessica Brantley, Matthew and Destini Phillips, Unique and Kaylin Hooks, Marcel Waples, Jamel, Anthony, Antaisia and Nahjor Mack; great grandchildren Jordyn, Jenae, Terrence, Avonyania and Alana Swan; brother Henry Swan; sisters Ellen and Patricia Swan along with a host of nieces and nephews. Nelson was formerly employed as a meat cutter at Tops Market in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, March 23rd from 10 am to 12 noon. His service will be held at 12 noon. George Campbell, his nephew, will officiate.
