So in the early '80s when Wally was stationed on Norfolk, he of course looked me up and spent a lot of time. At what we called The treehouse. Five of us girls livedt there ogether. a bunch of squirrels who collected nuts and coincidentally we were all from the valley where we had met Wally. He spent holidays with us but one time he took me aboard the ship to his barracks and I sure had some fun with that. The Marines on board told me that every time I stepped in the emblem he would have to do 10 push-ups before we left that day. Wally had done 120 push-ups with his little smart mouth. I had a means of revenge and the boys sure had a fun time laughing at thier fellow Marines of course. It was all in good fun and Wally took it well. Just a grin and ear to ear
What a great day we had though. It was wayy cool to go on the ship with him a unique experience for the both of us that particular day.
He came and stayed at my sister's one night in FL as he coincidentally was again my neighbor. He hooked us up with a babysitter, a woman. He would share the house with there. Suzanne. Well he stayed at our place one night and I remember how freaked out he was about the Palmento bugs Giant Florida cockroaches I say. LOL. So we slept on the floor watching movies on this big air mattress and Wally was up half the night spraying bug spray in a circle the perimeter around us to keep away the bugs. He was so freaked by them. I will never forget it. I laugh so hard and called him a girl. We always had a good time no matter where we were and we stayed in touch until just recently which is so strange. I've been here in your elmira's for 3 years and knownie was right there and very sad I didn't get a chance to see him again. I will regret that forever and I just saw the obituary and I was out of town this weekend with my grandkids and I know I missed it until now. So kind of having a fan. I Will miss you and have for several years. What I do not miss is Mr. Singer saying your name so frequently over the loudspeaker Wallace Gonzalez LOL. You were right up there without me. You mischief you were a great guy I just can't believe you left us so young my friend.
I have a great picture of Wally showing off his dimples holding his graduation cake from the Marines. I will share up when I find it.
Oh he also taught me how to reheat spaghetti properly food and I lived in Florida. I had never seen anyone add milk and cheese to spaghetti to reheat it. I thought he was crazy and I tried it and it was delicious and I still do it and I always tell everybody Wally showed me. When I show someone new

Thoughts and prayers to the family at this difficult time. Although I haven’t seen Wally in years when we did see each other he was always so pleasant with that big smile on his face. Rest in peace my friend.

I will never forget your smile. We were all in awe of you at a St.James Festival. Watching you breakdance. Amazing talent.
You will be missed here, but I’m sure there’s a celebration going on up there now. RIP

There is so much I could say about Wally but I will keep it to a minimum. I loved him, he was a special person, he always took care of me, he made me laugh and always cheered me up when I was down. He supported my move to Florida because he knew that was what I needed to do for my happiness even though it broke both of our hearts. He was so selfless with those that he loved. We still remained close and I will miss him every day!! I love you Wally Gonzalez
