Obituary of Udellar M. Moss
Lovingly called "Mrs. Della," Udellar Moss, daughter of the late George and Josie (Johnson) Harvard, was born on July 25, 1934, in Eastman, GA. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Mary and Cleotha, and brothers Louis and Sylvester. She is survived by her brother James (Stella) Harvard of Elmira, NY, and her sisters Bertha Hogan of South Carolina and Loriane (James) Abrams of Elmira, NY. In 1951, Udellar married the love of her life, Jimmie Lee Moss, and raised six children together. As a natural caregiver, she pursued her nursing degree at BOCES Nursing School and received her License practical nurse certification. Udellar's dedication to others was evident through her 40 years of service at Arnot Ogden Hospital and the Chemung County Nursing Facility, where she retired. Her care extended beyond her workplace, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Udellar was known for her unwavering commitment to excellence, never settling for anything less. She lived life to the fullest, with a particular passion for shoes and purses, always dressing up for church, fashion shows, and family occasions. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at family reunions and gatherings. She was often found at the heart of her home, seated at her kitchen table, cooking up delicious meals and creating cherished memories. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was affectionately known as "Grandma Moss" to all the children who crossed her path. Above all, she loved the Lord and was a faithful member and Mother of Word of Faith, Church of God in Christ.
Udellar departed this life on October 26, 2024, to be reunited with her beloved husband, Jimmie Lee, after 60 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children Matthew (Alice) Moss of Oxon Hill, MD; Tyde (Linton) Wells of Elmira, NY; Edward Moss of Ithaca, NY; Jerome (Mary Kay) Moss of Fredonia, NY; Bill (Terry) Moss of Ithaca, NY; and Renee (David) Bangura of Bladensburg, MD. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Derrick, Asha, Charice, Taryn, Sherry, Jermey, Nicole, Thomas, Eli, Shalika, Taleah, Marcus, Hawa, David "Tank" along with a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends, and relatives. Family and friends are invited to visit Word of Faith COGIC 356 West Thurston Street Elmira, NY 14901 on Friday, November 1, 2024. Viewing 11:00am to 12:00pm.
