Obituary of Mildred Ann Austin
Mildred Ann "Millie" (Baumgartner) Austin
Age, 90 of Elmira, NY, was born on September 1, 1934, in Elmira, NY. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Owen and Martha Elizabeth (Heywood) Baumgartner. Mildred had a long battle with some health issues and finally went home to be with her Jesus at her home, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased in death by her mother and father, husband Raymond Austin, daughter Seena (Austin) Farthing. She's survived by her sons: David (Mikki Jo) Austin of Elmira, NY; they were her caregivers for the last 4 years, Seth Austin (Teuta Hoxha) of Elmira Heights, NY; along with 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; her siblings: Virgie Matheney of Montour Falls, NY; Ida (Phil) Beard of Horseheads, NY; Jack (June) Baumgartner of Millerton, PA. Millie was also predeceased by her siblings: Robert Baumgartner (2020), Dale "Sonny" Baumgartner (1938), Twila Baumgartner (1989), Harold Baumgartner (2006), Muriel Baumgartner (1942 infant).
She was a lifetime member and past President of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post 154. Millie was also predeceased in death by her best friend Helen who would talk on the phone with each other during the Mets or Yankees games from the beginning to the end of the game. Helen was a Yankees fan and Mildred was a Mets fan. She told stories how she would watch the Mets with her dad on television. She had a passion for gospel and country music. You could always find her sitting in her recliner doing her crossword puzzles or reading a Nora Roberts book, while watching the Game Show Network. She greatly missed her husband Ray and her daughter Seena, and she looked forward to seeing them again.
She was a crossing guard for many years for the City of Elmira, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J.
