Obituary of Barbara A. Gardner
Barbara A. Gardner
(March 27, 1952 - April 11, 2024)
Barbara "Bobbie" A. Gardner, a beloved mother, Air Force veteran, and cherished member of her community, passed away on April 11, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born on March 27, 1952, to her parents, Patricia Darby and James Vanderpool, both of whom she now joins in eternal rest. Bobbie was also preceded in death by numerous cherished animal companions who brought her joy throughout her life. Bobbie leaves behind a legacy of love and service, especially as the devoted mother of her son, Michael Gardner (NY). She was a caring step-daughter to Jack Darby (NY), a loving sister to Gloria Decker (NY), Sandy Swan (NY), Linda Keehan (NY), Deb Correll (KS), Judy Darby (NY), Jean Willard (NY), Jim Vanderpool (TN), and Bill Vanderpool (MO), and a cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews. As a United States Air Force veteran, Bobbie dedicated herself to serving her country with honor and distinction. Her commitment to duty and her fellow service members earned her the rank of Master Sergeant before her retirement. In addition to her family and friends, Bobbie will be deeply missed by all who crossed paths with her during her lifetime. Though she may be gone from this world, her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known her. Bobbie will be laid to rest in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where the Chemung County Veteran's Honor Guard and the USAF Honor Guard will accord Bobbie with Military Honors at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA 2435 NY-352, Elmira NY 14903 in Barbara's honor. https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/chemung-county-spca/donate-now
