Obituary of Ivan D. Baker
Ivan D. Baker
Passed away peacefully at Bethany Nursing Home on March 18, 2024 but lived most of his life in Big Flats, NY. Ivan was 83. He was born September 10, 1940 in Nichols, NY, son of the late Lee and Pearl (Campbell) Baker. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara Baker; parents; 4 brothers and 7 sisters. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Michael Baker and Carmella Allegretto-Baker; several nieces and nephews. Ivan and Barbara were married on January 6, 1962 for 53 years until her passing in 2015. Ivan proudly served in the Naval Reserve from 1959-1960. He also proudly served in active duty as a Naval Corpsman Petty Officer 3rd Class in the United States Navy from 1960-1962. Ivan was a longtime employee at Westinghouse, then worked for Kennedy Valve in 1977 and retired from there in 2004. Ivan's love for his family was beyond admirable. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring cars, not to mention remodeling his home with Michael. Ivan was a shining light whenever being in his presence. Ivan's family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Manor for the loving care given to him during his time there. At Ivan's request, a private graveside service will take place in Rural Home Cemetery at the convenience of the family, where Ivan will be laid to rest with his beloved Barbara.
