Rev. Patrick L. Holder
Age 77 of Elmira, NY. He was born March 17, 1946 in Cape Vincent, NY, son of the late James E. and Arlene A. (Freeman) Holder and passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 unexpectedly at home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty (West) Holder; daughters Joy Holder and Melissa Czysz; grandchildren Kerina Czysz, Amber Czysz, Brittany Woodcock and Joseph Clark; brother James Holder, Jr. along with several nieces and nephews. As a Methodist Pastor, Patrick served Flattop Mountain Church in TN while at Bryan College, Preacherville & Lawson's Chapel in KY as Student Pastor while at Asbury Seminary, U.S. Military Chaplain, Liverpool United Methodist, Parish & West Amboy United Methodist, Oakwood UM, Pennsylvania Ave. UM, South Corning UM, Wellsburg UM, Riverside UM and Westside UM. Patrick retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 30 years. He was awarded Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal w/ 3 Bronze Stars. Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal w/ 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal w/ 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device, Army Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Parachutist Badge and NYS Defense of Liberty Medal. Family and friends are invited to his graveside service, with military honors, on Friday, March 8th at 11 am in Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis St., Elmira. Rev. Mark Erway will officiate.
