Obituary of Maureen Morris

Maureen "Mickey" (Cobb) Morris of Horseheads, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 7, 2024, joining her loving husband of 68 years, Francis L. Morris who preceded her in death on December 8, 2023. Maureen was also predeceased by her parents Arthur F. & Mary L. (Soule) Cobb, her son, Mark Morris in April 2014, her sister Patricia Lauper and husband Pete, her brother Dick Cobb and wife Peach, her brother Mike Cobb and wife Ardeth and her best friend Edith Miller. She is survived by her seven beloved children: Tom (Sue) Morris of Kathleen, GA; with their children, Jennifer, Kyra and Michael; Kathy (Morris) Zeigler of Lakewood, WA; with her children, Joe and Matt; Patrick (Becky) Morris of D'Hanis, TX; with their children, P. J., Alysha and J. J.; Sue (Kevin) Cook of Elmira, NY; with their children, Keenan, Colin and "Wilson"; Ann (Zane) Brown of Elmira, NY; with their children, Nate, Zalayna and Zane; Cindy (Morris) Blair of Rockford, IL; with her children, Joshua and Michelle; Christopher Morris of Warrensburg, MO; with his children, Heather and Andrew; along with 13 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Mickey loved going to Tioga Downs and on various bus tours to other casinos in the area and Atlantic City, NJ. Her favorite hobbies were collecting empty bank envelopes and purses. She also loved traveling to see her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always remembered special events like birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations. Mom had a very unique, memorable laugh. There was never a dull summer with trips to Seneca Lake, Lake George and picnics at various attractions. Mickey loved fireworks and loved "breaking the law." She enjoyed Pioneer Baseball games. She loved gardening and canning the proceeds. At the end of summer it was pickle time with crocks lining the kitchen. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm to celebrate Maureen's life.
