Obituary of Maxine Theresa Carrigan

Maxine Theresa Carrigan (Paciorek) Age 79 of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Maxine was born on December 12, 1943 in Elmira, daughter of the late Peter & Margaret (Taylor) Paciorek. In addition to her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her son David Carrigan; brothers James Paciorek and Lawrence Paciorek; sister-in-law Peg Paciorek. Maxine is survived by her son Brian Carrigan of Elkland, PA; grandchildren Kathryn Carrigan with Michele Carrigan and Connor Carrigan of Corning, NY; sister Margaret Mary Miller of Florida; brothers Peter Paciorek of Georgia and Richard Paciorek of Oklahoma. Maxine worked for various Elmira businesses for many years, retiring in March 2020. In addition, she operated an in home daycare while her boys were young. Maxine also enjoyed tending bar at the Elmira Heights VFW. Maxine enjoyed spending time with her friends and taking trips to Tioga Downs. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were the lights of her life. Maxine will be remembered as a fun loving and caring woman; the ultimate caretaker who would be the first to show up with a dish to pass to anyone who was celebrating or grieving. Her compassion, smile and generosity will be profoundly missed. Family and friends are invited to St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira on Saturday, November 11th from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Unit for the outstanding care provided to Maxine.
