Obituary of William J. Hulslander

Age 79, of Elmira, NY was born January 4, 1944 in Elmira, the son of the late Glenn and Adeline (Rohde) Hulslander. Bill passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Elderwoods in Waverly, NY. His sister, Dawn M. Jessup, brother, Kenneth J. Hulslander and canine companion "Dixie" also preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Francine (Pona) Hulslander; beloved children: son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Christina Hulslander Jr., daughter and son-in-law, Julie A. and Michael Thompson, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amiee Hulslander; brother, Glenn "Sonny" (Carol) Hulslander; sister-in-law, Barbara (Ray) Weiland; sister-in-law, Laura Hulslander; aunts, Janice Saunders and Joan Rohde; along with 6 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. William was a Veteran of the United States Navy proudly serving his country from 1963-1967. He retired from Hardinge Inc. as a machinist/team coordinator after 41 years of dedicated service. Bill enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, the Buffalo Bills and especially spending time with his grandchildren and family gatherings. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, August 29th from 2 to 4 pm. Funeral Services honoring his life will follow at 4:00 pm. His friend and neighbor Reverend John DeSocio will officiate. Interment will take place in the Bath National Cemetery San Jaun Ave. Bath, NY on Wednesday, August 30th at 1:00 pm where Military Honors will be accorded to Mr. Hulslander.
