Obituary of Paul "Yogi" Ferreira
Of Elmira, NY
Is with his Lord after 83 years her on earth. He was born in a little house near the bay in Provincetown, MA to the late Manuel and Virginia (Bent) Ferreira. Paul was the youngest of four children, two older brothers, Bobby and Kenneth and his sister, Joann. Paul enjoyed a happy childhood playing with his cousins and best friend, Gordon and his siblings all who have gone before him. Paul and Sandy met in early June of 1962 and married in July at St. Mary of the Harbor Church. He is the father of Kelly (Alan) Poley, Dale Ferreira and Chris (Wendy) Ferreira; foster daughters, Shirley Revelle and Pamela Trahan; granddaughters, Kim Klein, Sarah Poley, Natalie Ferreira, Danielle Ferreira and Rachel Deville; grandsons, Patrick Ferreira, Seth Revelle, Jack Revelle, Michael Trahan, Robert Trahan and Jonathon Boik; along with 13 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, Zari. Paul loved the New York Yankees from his earliest memory. When you hear his name, you automatically think of the Yanks. He loved them, win or lose. Paul worked as a machinist for Kennedy Valve until becoming ill with Guillain-Barre syndrome. After two years of rehab, he started volunteering at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. When the last one left the nest, Paul and Sandy moved to Ithaca for 25 years where they both volunteered at Beech Tree Rehab and Loaves and Fishes Community Kitchen until circumstances brought them back home for nursing care at St. Joseph's Hospital SNF. Paul loved the staff in 5-A, nurses, aides, cleaners and activities. They were close to him like family, He received excellent care, and actually believed he had his own private nurse, Amanda. What a gift Dr. Corbalan and Sam to be the best caregivers ever. We are so grateful for the excellent care Paul received. It was Paul's wishes that there be no services, just be kind to one another. Memorial donations in his name may be directed to Mount Saviour Monastery 231 Monastery Road Pine City, NY 14871
