Obituary of Thomas Paul Cook

Of Elmira, NY Age, 64 was born July 27, 1958 in Elmira, NY the son of Harold and Patricia Catherine (Allen) Cook. He passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Patricia and his brother, Donald Joseph Cook. He is survived by his loving daughter, Valerie Ketchum of Elmira, NY; adored granddaughter, Ava Lynn Batrowney also of Elmira, NY; sisters, Caroline Tolbert and Susan Cardinale; along with several other relatives and many friends. Tom was a painter for John H. Cook Jr. Painting and Contracting Inc. retiring after 30 + years of dedicated service. He loved going to the casino and gambling. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre. Tom was an avid golfer and enjoyed throwing a cold one back now and then. In his spare time, he could be found putting puzzles together, gluing, then framing them; and was also obsessed with painting by numbers. Tom was very organized and loved his music, especially Alice Cooper. Above all else, Tom loved the apple of his eye, his daughter, Valerie and granddaughter, Ava Lynn. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm for a Celebration of Life for Thomas. The Celebration will continue at Mimi's Lounge 924 Sullivan Street Elmira, NY.
