Obituary of Harriet C. Casil

Harriet C. Casil Age 98, formerly of Elmira. She was born October 11, 1924 in Windfall, IN, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Murphy) Passwaiter and passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Elderwood of Wheatfiled, Niagara Fall, NY. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Samuel in 2012 and sister Greeta Benner. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Christine and Paul Soos of Niagara Falls, NY; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Ana Casil of Deerfield Beach, FL; granddaughter Stephanie Soos (Jacob Fischer) of Tonawanda, NY along with several nieces and nephews. Harriet was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church. She retired from the Elmira City School Distirct and was a member of the American Legion Post 154 Auxiliary. Harriet and Sam loved to travel, work around the house and to visit their children and friends and enjoy life. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, June 20th from 6 to 8 pm. Her funeral service will be held there on Wednesday, June 21st at 10 am. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery.
