Obituary of Mary Theresa Waite

Mary Theresa (Affeldt) Waite Age 87, of Elmira, NY. She was born May 17, 1936 in Elmira, NY daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Kimble) Affeldt and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her beloved husband, Robert L. Waite preceded her in death July 31, 2007 after 51 wonderful years of love and life together. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Mark Waite, grandson, Steven Waite, brother, Albert Affeldt and sister Carmalita Affeldt, son-in-law, Patrick Brady and brother-in-law, Fred Edmister. She is survived by her loving children, Sheila Marie Brady of Elmira, NY; Thomas Albert (Pamela) Waite of Lowman, NY; Jeffrey Michael (Terry) Waite of Big Flats, NY; sister, Jane Edmister of Elmira, NY; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her good friends from chair caning as well as her church family at New Life Church in Canton, PA. Mary retired from the Elmira City School District with 25 plus years of dedicated service. She loved the outdoors and spending time at the local lakes. She enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and arrow head hunting. Mary was quite the archer and excelled at archery competitions. Her specialty was making cakes for weddings, anniversaries and all other occasions. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, May 26th from 1 to 3 pm. Her Celebration of life will follow at 3 pm. Pastor Glenn Landis will officiate. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in Woodlawn National Cemetery at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Falck Cancer Center or to the SPCA in her memory.
