Scott Losey

Obituary of Scott L. Losey

Age 52, of Elmira NY, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023; leaving behind his loving wife of nearly 27 years, Kathleen (Dowling) Losey. Scott was born June 8th, 1970 to the late Victor and Shirley (Higgins) Losey. He is also predeceased by his sister Vicki Losey and mother-in-law Mary "Rainey" Dowling. Scott is survived by his much-loved brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Connie of Quakertown, PA; Dennis and Jan of Bath, NY; Mike Losey of Detroit, MI; Jeff and Gina Losey of Plainfield, IL; Greg and Jan Losey of Batavia, NY; step-mother, Cathy Losey of Bath, NY; and father-in-law, Joe Dowling of Elmira, NY; along with sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Dowling and Charlie Rivera of W. Henrietta, NY; Maureen and Frank Frisbie of Elmira, NY; and multiple extended family members. Scott grew up in Greenwood and Bath, NY. After graduating from Corning High School, he attended college in Indiana then returned to the Bath/Corning areas where he worked for P&C foods at various locations for 28+ years. Scott enjoyed cooking, baking and making homemade chocolate candies especially at the holidays, and always remembered family and friends favorites. He also enjoyed his multiple "collections" of walking sticks, hats, pez dispensers and more. Scott liked traveling, especially in the fall, taking trips to the green mountains in Vermont to see the fall foliage. Enjoying antique shops, visiting Vermont country stores and local businesses in the area. But most of all he enjoyed cabin camping during Halloween at Letchworth State Park in NY, and when his health began to decline, "glamping" in the cabins at Hillscreek State Park in PA, with Mary and Charlie. Scott spent many hours cooking and baking snacks for family and friends visiting for the day and competiting to see whose cabin was best decorated for Halloween. Scott had been described by many as kind, caring and one of the most intelligent people they had met. I would have to agree. After being blessed to have him in my life for 29 years, I wish that we could have had more time together, but I am at peace knowing that he is finally at rest. Scott requested no services. A private graveside burial will take place at a later date and time. In memory of Scott, be kind and do a good deed for someone, if someone speaks to you take time to listen and remember what they say. Enjoy the lilacs in spring and the black-eyed Susan's during Indian summer or make a donation to a charity of your choice.
