Obituary of Warren C. Denson Sr.

Warren C. Denson Sr. Of Cayuta, NY Age 71, was born January 9, 1952 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Francis William and Wenonah (Dyer) Denson. Warren passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 after an extended illness. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Laura K. Denson, who raised him; sister, Marianna Smith; brother, Rodney Denson. He is survived by his loving children: Kimberley Denson (Archie Frunzie), Warren C. Denson Jr., Connie (Mike) Wolfe and Caitlin (Chris) Fitch; siblings: Wenonah Bedient, LeRoy (Corrie) Denson, Burt (Jeannie) Denson, Ruth Hall and Millie (Doug) Rarick; along with 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who loved their "Grumpa"; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Warren was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. He was a dedicated Lieutenant Sheriff with the Chemung County Sheriff's Department. Warren was employed with F M Howell Packaging Company for many years retiring as security guard and from the maintenance department. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting turkey and deer and enjoyed fishing as well. Warren loved spending time with his buddies that had coffee at 7 pm at the Dandy Mini Mart. Above all, Warren was a huge family man. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 pm. Reverend Jeff Falke, Pastor at Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 10 am with Pastor Falke offering committal prayers and the Chemung County Veteran Honor Guard will accord Mr. Denson Military Honors In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the NYS DEC Heritage Trust 625 Broadway 2nd Floor Albany, NY 12207 or to the American Cancer Society 13 Beech Street Johnson City, NY 13790 in Warren's memory.
