Mary was born in NYC, NY September 6, 1936 to Charles Alexander and Rosalia (Varga) Nemeth. Mary was predeceased by her parents, first husband Ted Nickerson; life companion, Donald Dickinson; brothers, George and Frank Nemeth; sister, Elizabeth Hatala; beloved grandson, Ben Newton; step-son, David Dickinson. Mary is survived by her sister, Anna Nemeth; children with spouses, son, Ted and Cindy Nickerson; daughter, Pam (Nickerson) and Timothy Newton; grandchildren, Jamie Nickerson and wife Constance, Jenna Nickerson Noe and spouse Ross, Elley Newton and spouse William VanDelinder; great granddaughter, Ruby Newton VanDelinder; step children, Pam and Mark Bellamy with Katie and Matt Yarder and children, Steve and Mary with daughter Becky and David Pittman and children, Shelly and David Mathews with sons and spouse Patrick and Courtney Mathews and children; Justin and Courtney Mathews; neighbor and wonderful friend, Patrick Symonds; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary worked for many years as a home health aide for Chemung County Health Department. After her retirement she continued to care for others. Mary will truly be missed by all the lives she touched. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 4 pm. Pastor Jennifer Wolf will officiate. Interment will take place in Fitzsimmons Cemetery, Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 10 am with Pastor Wolf offering committal prayers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to CareFirst Hospice, 3805 Meads Creek Road Painted Post, NY 14870 or to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, 2435 NY 352 Elmira, NY 14903.
