Richard W. Thompson, "Dickie"
Of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Louise Thompson; in laws Richard and Rosalie Telech; son Richard M. Thompson; brother-in-law Butch Albee and "adopted brother" Dennis Alexander. Dickie is survived by his loving wife Donna (Telech) Thompson; beloved sister Deborah T. Hoffman; always loved children Kelly Jo, Craig (Rita) and Greg (Shawndae); several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Victoria (Wayne) Burnham, Rita (Joseph) DeDominick, Mary (Jon) Olin, Dolores (Richard) Felkey, Janice (T.J.) Lagonegro, Donnalee Decker; brother-in-law Richard (Patricia) Telech, Jr. along with numerous cousins and special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Through the years, Dickie owned and operated taverns in Elmira and the Syracuse area as well as a water purification business in N. Myrtle Beach. Dickie also worked and taught in construction for many years, retiring from Carpenter's Union Local 277. Dickie worked hard, played hard and made so many good friends over the years. He loved his friends dearly but loved his treasured family more than anything! He will be remembered and missed by many. In honor of his wishes, there will be no services. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Arnot Ogden, the ER, 4D and especially 4B. Your care and compassion has been remarkable! Those wishing to celebrate Dickie, please share a story, a laugh, a dance or a hug with those you love, and do it often.
