Obituary of Mozelle D. Holmes

Mozelle D. Holmes Of Elmira, NY Age 95, was born September 11, 1927 in Bluefield, W VA, the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence (Lambert) Hairston. Mozelle passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 27, 2022 with her family at her side. Her beloved husband, Nathaniel Holmes preceded her in death after 59 years of marriage. Her daughter, Carleita Boone and son Nathaniel Holmes also predeceased her. She is survived by her loving children: Sharon Lee Hairston, Cerdan (Diane) Holmes, Linda (Samuel) Green, Alonzo Holmes, Veronica Brooks, Ricardo Holmes, Marc Holmes, Marcella Young and Bonita Holmes; along with 44 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mozelle was a member brown skin model dance group, and danced in the 1940's. Family and friends are invited to attend services for Mrs. Holmes at the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 am. Her daughter, Reverened Sharon Hairston will officiate.
