Obituary of David L. Brown

Age 56, of Corning, NY was born July 14, 1966 in Corning the son of the late Victor and Emily (Fuller) Brown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Brown Jr. and brother-in-law Bruce Ross Sr. David is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Linda (Black) Brown; children: daughter and son-in-law, Christina E. (Gareth) Bowes; sons, Tom Brautigan and Ryan Shepherd; grandchildren, Lucian Patrick-Antonio McCartney, Adrian Paul McCartney and Ember Sky Bowes; siblings, Donald M. (Mel) Brown, Donna A. Ross, Roger L. (Lori) Brown, Ron L. (Diane) Brown, Terry L. (Zarine) Brown and Patricia A. (Troy) Bowman; special niece, Kelly Jo Loysch; mother-in-law, Linda Casbeer, brothers-in-law, Max C. (Sharon) Black, Elton (Laura) Black, and Jason Black; sisters-in-law, Dawn Thomas and Joan (Richard) Teal; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends including the Elmira Police Department. David was a professional mechanic and retired from the Elmira Department of Public Works. He was a mechanic for Simmons Rockwell and was a New York State Bail Bond Agent. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, walking his dog "Bayli" with Linda, helping others, spending time with family and working on projects. David was a loving, caring, compassionate person who enjoyed helping family, friends and strangers. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will forever be in our hearts! Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake Street at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. His funeral service will be held there on Sunday at the conclusion of the visitation at 4 pm. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 am.
