Obituary of Julia Marie Hooks

Julia M. Hooks AKA "Sis" of Elmira NY, Daughter of the late Henry Alexander and Priscilla Ross, passed away Monday April 4, 2022, at home. In addition to her parents Julia is predeceased by her husband James Hooks, daughter Linda Hubbert, sister Shirley Ellis, Brothers, Melvin, Jimmy, Joe, Charles, and Tommie Ross. Her loving memory will be cherished by her children; Clarence (Cindy) Williams of Corning NY; Curtis Williams, Larry Hooks, and James Hooks of Elmira NY; Angel Spivey and Dria Hooks both of Rochester, NY; Alonzo Hooks of Honolulu HI; "adopted" daughter Bishop Karen Horace of Rochester NY; brother, William Ross, of Elmira NY; Brother and Sister-in-law, Willie and Sonya Hooks of Elmira and Sister-in-law, Elsie Ross of York PA. Julia was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 22 great grands, 2 special friends Mary Lyles and Neal Walker(deceased) both of Elmira NY: and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Julia retired from FM Howell & Company and was a member of His Tabernacle Family Church. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 11am to 1pm at His Tabernacle Family Church 16 Level Acres Drive Horseheads, NY 14845. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1pm. Pastor Dan Dykes will officiate. Interment will take place privately in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where Julia will be laid to rest with her beloved James. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the Hooks family.
