Obituary of Fred Allen Sturgill

Sturgill, Fred Allen Age 71 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born April 17, 1950 in Keokee, VA, son of the late Denver and Retha (Givens) Sturgill and passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Corning Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Leon Sturgill and sister Shawna Cass. Fred is survived by his wife Susan; daughters Christine Taylor and Patricia Olmstead both of Elmira; grandchildren Tyler Taylor of NH, Megan Taylor of Las Vegas, NV, Emily Taylor of Elmira, Gabrielle Campbell of CA and Amber Orr of Elmira; sister Anna Mae Huffman of Corning; brother Lynn Sturgill of CA along with several nieces and nephews. Fred retired from First Transit in January with over 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, March 14th from 11 am to 1 pm. His funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
