Obituary of Evelyn Jane Cavallaro

CAVALLARO, Evelyn Jane Age 97 of Elmira, NY. She was born January 24, 1924 in Elmira, daughter of the late Bird and Cora (Krowl) Reynolds and passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Vincent Cavallaro; sister Alice Komarmi and brothers Bird, Jr., Richard and Charles Reynolds. She is survived by her children Caro Lorber, Vincent (Pam) Damiano, Robert (Briggi) Damiano all of CA, Marilyn Damiano of Elmira; son-in-law Marc Hample of Elmira; brother Alexander Reynolds of Horseheads; grandchildren Langdon (Katherine) Hample and Julie (David Michelson) Eyres, Nick (Sonja) Damiano and Danielle Damiano along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a communicant of St. Mary's Church for over 50 years. She retired from Remington Rand; was an avid exerciser and political aficionado. Evelyn was a great cook and was known for her Italian specialties. She was given a "green" thumb and showed that off in the summer growing her tomato and basil plants. She was an active member of the local AARP chapter and enjoyed the bus trips to Albany to campaign for legislation. Family and friends are invited to her memorial service on Friday, January 14th at 10 am at Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Masks are required.
