Obituary of James L. McCarthy

McCARTHY, James L. Age 89 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born November 1, 1931 in Schroon, NY, son of the late William and Letha (Kellogg) McCarthy and passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia in 2009 and his siblings Gladys VanGelder, Dorothy Pack, Donald Chamberlain and special nephew Donald Pack. James is survived by his children Veronica (Tony) Yarborough of Sylvester, GA, Patrick McCarthy of Valdosta, GA, Wayne McCarthy of Hector, NY, Daniel (Jennifer) McCarthy of Elmira, NY, Edward (Joy) Carl of Belmont, MS and Ron (Pam) Carl of Bisbee, AZ along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren; special niece Donna (Karl) Coldiron of Horseheads, NY. He retired from Thatcher Glass, was an avid fisherman, taking annual trips to the Great Lakes. He enjoyed boating and have a strong love for motorcycles which he passed on to his sons. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, October 30th from 4 to 5 pm. His funeral and committal services will follow at 5 pm. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
