Obituary of Phyllis R. Brendle

Phyllis R. Brendle Age 87, formerly a long-time resident of Erin, NY. She was born February 28, 1934 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle "Ruth" (Goble) Rowe, and passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her three husbands, Richard Whitman in 1982, Kenneth Forrest in 2000, and Paul Brendle in 2005; along with three grandchildren, Richard J. Whitman in 1987, Nicole A. Robinson in 2019, and Crystal S.VanDusen in 2020; and sisters, Allegra Whipple, and Beatrice Durrwachter. She is survived by her children, Charles (Helene) Whitman, William Whitman, and Diane (Daniel) Doland; grandchildren, Stephen (Rebecca) Whitman, Andrew (Geraldine) Robinson, and Britney (Ryan Graham) McDuffie; great grandchildren, Damieon, Davey, Donovan, Trevor, Mary, Alek, and Alessa; sister Virginia Wood; along with her extended family and many dear friends. Phyllis was a 1952 graduate of Southside High School in Elmira. She worked as a daycare provider for the County before finding her calling at the Elmira Psychiatric Center, where she took pride in treating the residents to the best food she could prepare; she served at EPC for 20 years, diligently working to give the best to those she served. Phyllis was active for many years in the Breesport Baptist Church. Her faith and 'loving heart' saw her family and friends coming to know that anyone loved by Phyllis was truly 'loved completely'. She took great pride in being a grandmother; the best there ever was. Family and friends are invited to visit the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., in Elmira, NY on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Phyllis' funeral service will be held there on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 1 pm. Bishop Dr. Mark Vaughn officiating. Committal and interment will follow at Scotchtown Cemetery, Erin, NY.
