Obituary of Sha-Heem Harris

Sha-heem "Mookie" Harris (Sturgis) age 21, passed away unexpectedly March 13, 2021. Sha-heem was born November 26, 1999 to his mother Kashawn Carter Chavis and father Devon Sturgis. From a child Mookie was determined to take over the world. Mookie enjoyed playing football, working on cars and dancing. Family was everything to Mookie. Even as a young adult Mookie was eager to learn. He attended Corning Community College automotive mechanics and was all set for his fall semester. Mookie's love and energy will be missed the most; he has left his mark on so many people, especially his little cousins and the kids that were special in his heart. We all know Mookie loves the kids. Sha-heem was predeceased by his loving maternal grandmother Joyce Brown and great grandmother Pauline Brown; paternal grandmother Rita Sturgis and great grandmother Roberta Sturgis. In addition, Mookie had two influential males in his life as well, stepfather Rudy Chavis and cousin Albert Sturgis. Sha-heem is survived by his loving mother Kashawn Carter of Elmira, NY, father Devon Sturgis of Rochester, NY, sisters Amiree Carter, Alizjay McFadden, Zhane McFadden, Atiyah Harris, all of Elmira, NY along with his only brother Dy-lon Chavis of Elmira, NY. Sha-heem is also blessed with his mini, Sha-heem Jr. "JuJu" and son Sha'Zharie Harris of Elmira, NY. Sha-heem also has a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart, loyal friends Parrish "Poppii" Golden of Elmira, NY, Tyler Edwards of Florida, Tyir Dorsey of Illinois; aunt Syreeta Moore and uncle Man Sturgis of Rochester, NY, loving aunt Shakira Kyles and uncle Kwame Kyles. Mookie also leaves behind a very special bond with James and Marcus Campbell and his cousins Chevon "Chef Pun" Brown and Lavar Flint. Cousins Levon and Montrel Sturgis also have a bond that will never be replaced.
