Obituary of Gladys Lezeau

Reverend Dr. Gladys L. Davis Lezeau, former Yonkers NY Public School educator, transitioned to her heavenly home on December 29, 2020. Gladys Louise Davis was born on July 29, 1937 to Rev. Robert E. Davis and Pearl G. Vaughn Davis in New York City, NY. The youngest daughter of eight siblings, she relocated to Yonkers, NY with her family in 1941, where her father pastored St. Paul Church of God in Christ. She accepted Christ at an early age, was actively involved in different ministries, and became a gifted musician, specializing in the Hammond organ. After completing her formal education, Gladys enjoyed a lengthy career as a Home Economics teacher for Yonkers Public Schools. She taught at Charles E. Gorton High School and later at P.S. 13. In 1977, she married Leslie Lezeau and welcomed the birth of their son Leonel in 1979. Gladys was a loving and devoted mother to her only child. Ministry was her passion. She accepted her higher calling and received her Doctorate of Divinity from Manhattan Bible Institute. She served as a National Evangelist for C.O.G.I.C., where she shared prophetic revelations and insights, accompanied by the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit. Gladys was a woman of great beauty and grace, with discerning taste and character. Her dimpled smile and quick wit were always on display. She shared her talents and mentored young women through her modeling agency in NYC and charm school in Yonkers. She endeavored to teach the social graces of the day; hosting many etiquette lessons, formal luncheons, social teas and fashion shows. She is predeceased by her parents Rev. Robert and Pearl Davis, five brothers Robert, James, John, Earl and Eddie and two sisters Vera Freer and Dr. Vivian Lofton. Gladys leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Leonel Lezeau; two sister-in-laws, Hattie Davis and Alder Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Private virtual services for Gladys will be arranged in the future for her loving and extended family both near and far.
