Obituary of John P. Cleary

CLEARY, John P. Age 47 of Elmira, NY. He was born March 10, 1973 in Elmira, son of the late John H. and Margaret (Gaughan) Cleary. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 30, 2020. He is predeceased by his grandparents Martin and Edith Gaughan and John and Lenna Cleary. He is further predeceased by his aunt and uncle James and MaryAnn Grant. He is survived by his siblings David Cleary, Anne Cleary, Nora (David) Ripley, and Jennifer (Kyle) Rosplock of Elmira. John is also survived by his children Victoria, Jonathan, Abigail, Sarah, Lizzie, Ellie, Ethan and Julian all of Elmira, Johnny of Woodstock, VA; aunt and uncle Michael and Nancy Cleary of Monroeton, PA along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a graduate of Notre Dame High School where he made lifelong connections with many friends. John was funny, intelligent, charismatic, and jovial. He had a passion for learning, writing, and sharing his knowledge with others. John was formerly employed by the Elmira Star-Gazette, known for writing the Neighbor's Column. John was generous, kind-hearted, and truly shed the brightest light for all around him. He will truly be missed by all who had the greatest pleasure of knowing him. There will be no prior calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
