Obituary of Wanda B. Ruth

Wanda Burnett Ruth, age 63 of Elmira, NY was born July 18, 1958 in South Carolina. She was born to Christine Ruth and the late Henry Boles. Wanda is predeceased by grandparents Edgar and Lucille Owens and was raised by Russell Ruth. Wanda passed away unexpectedly November 10, 2020 at Sayre Guthrie Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Wanda is survived by her child Laetitia Geter (Joe Thompkins) and sisters Amanda Ruth and Lynette Britt (Joseph). Also left to her memory are her grandchildren Ieisha, George and Robert Wilson and Iziah Geter, all of Elmira, NY. Wanda leaves behind great-grandchildren, J'Nyzhia Jones, Cashmere Clinton, Nialah Wilson, George Wilson Jr., Giovanni Wilson, Shaheem Sturgis and Pharaoh Wilson. She also leaves behind nephew Tyrone Brit Boles and nieces Sharmane (Latasha), Taqualia and Marqi; a host of great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends Eunice Knights Washington and Geri Parks; spiritual leader Mother Alma Mountain and her Faith Temple family. Wanda retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility as a CNA and was a Union Rep. She loved fishing, family cookouts and music. Wanda was a devoted member of Faith Temple Community Church of God in Christ where she served on the choir, YPWW, and as Pastor Aide and usher. Wanda loved her family and God deeply and shared it with anyone that listened. Her favorite verses were Proverbs 3:5,6 Family and friends are invited to her funeral service on Wednesday, November 18th at 11 am in Faith Temple Community C.O.G.I.C. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences.
