Sonny was and will always be like a Father to me. I received and learned many things from my father-in-law, and have great memories I will have for the rest of my life.
He was the embodiment of extraordinary kindness, work ethic, sense of humor, respect, and love, and anyone could also see the Joy his Grandchildren brought him.
Through action, he also followed the Golden Rule of Life, treat others as you want to be treated.
Sonny loved his entire family, unconditionally. The Love he had for his Wife, Daughter, Son, and Daughter-in-Law was as clear as day during family gatherings. You could always see the twinkle in his eyes.
Many memories were the times he talked to me about life. He never shied away from difficult conversations. He served his country during the Vietnam War and allowed me a small window about the horrors of war. We could talk for hours, or just watch a movie and have fun.
I Loved Him with all my heart, and he will always be in my heart. How many people can say they enjoyed going on vacations with their in-laws? I Did. We traveled together several times across the east coast, as far down as Florida, and created great memories.
Am I sad? Yes, and there will be grief; however I know he will live in many people's memories forever, as he will in mine. He also was a well-known person in Elmira and the surrounding area. Almost anywhere we went, someone would say hi and have a conversation. He always reminded me of the greatest gift you can give someone is your time—this lesson I will carry for the rest of my life.

I’m so sad to hear of Sonnys passing . I loved listening to his stories when he would come in the X- Cel everyday for coffee. He would brighten my day just by hearing his infectious laughter . He will be greatly missed in a world that needs his smile right now .

Oh my heart has been with all of you all these years. There are too many wonderful memories of your dad to recount. But it is his laughter and his hugs that will be with me always. Always putting others first. He also may have taught me a good swear word or two. ❤️
