I remember fly fishing with Host and Chuck Wissinger when we were all very young and just started teaching. We both taught a Corning Community College Ceramics. He was a love that I will never forget. Kind, generous, full of fun and incredibly talented. He is missed cross county from Corning, New York to Long Beach, California.

I have many fond memories of Ceramics class at CCC. I wasn’t very good at it, but it felt like we were a family, and Horst was very patient with me. He encouraged me and helped me get better. He would let me play my mixed tapes while I worked. He was quiet, but communicated a lot through his facial expressions. I respected him a great deal, and have every single piece I made (many he helped finish) in his class 25 years ago!

Horst from one phone call looking for a pottery wheel we became life friends. You invited me into your world teaching me talent that was beyond amazing. You were a art creator. We spoke and visited recently and I am so glad. I will miss your knowledge, you fun sense of humor and you playing the elder always giving me advise. Damn I cant believe your gone. Enjoy peace, no pain, and continue to create a amazing world of art for us to all see one day.
Love Nancy Sterling

Oh what a memory!!! My name is Sherry and I live in Maine. I dated Horst a couple of years before I became Mrs. Horst Werk. We were married for nine years and I loved him and his family. We were so young and immature....me, at 27 and Horst at 36. I am now 71 and am retired. I am very sad...Horst and I had a child that we lost...probably because “he didn’t want to mix his beautiful, pure German blood!!!

So saddened to hear of Horst's passing. He was one of my favorite professors at CCC. He was quite the artist. He inspired me to continue my creations on the wheel. Rest in piece my friend.
