My earliest memories of Ron consisted of hunting, unbelievable stew, and what I would call “premium” jerky. The picture you see is me at 19 holding the leg of the first animal I shot. A rabbit off the back of Ron’s deck with his rifle in my hand. Perfect shot rite between its eyes. And that’s all it took. I was quickly introduced to deer hunting (failed miserably-no way could I stay both quiet AND still for THAT long!) and then Turkey hunting. Loved turkey hunting. Why you ask? There are Toys!!! I remember playing around with so many different Turkey callers next thing I knew maybe 5 turkeys were in close eyesight. I believe Joel might have been on this particular outing as well. I can’t recall if I even shot a turkey or not but I was just so happy to please my new father in law that day. Ron was all smiles. He was so happy with my newfound calling skills that for Christmas that year he got me a bunch of Turkey callers all for my own! It was awesome! Like all holidays were for me at Ron and Kathy’s. So much warmth and love. I am and will always be so great full for that familial embrace they so easily welcomed me into way back in 1996, especially as my own was so fragmented. Ron and Kathy are two gems; Joel the brother I never had. You all are a true blessing to me. I’m so very sorry for your loss.
