Obituary of Richard J. West

WEST, Richard J., Jr. "Rick" Age 61 of Big Flats, NY. He was born April 12, 1952 in Burlington, VT the son of Richard J., Sr. and Doreen (McDevitt) West and passed away suddenly at home on Monday, April 22, 2013. Rick was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his mother Doreen West; longtime, loving partner Karen Gush and her sons Joseph and Jason Fursman; brother Kevin (Sarah) West; sisters Kathy (Eddie) Daniels, Sue (Dave) Tiffany, Maureen (Martin) Gabriele and Julie (Al) Stay; former wife Lucretia West and her sons along with several nieces and nephews. Rick was employed with the Horseheads School District for 25 years as the Equipment Service Manager. He was an avid NASCAR fan and had just returned from a race in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed playing his guitars. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, April 27th from 2 to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Rick through donations to MDA.
